Hello! I'm a licensed psychologist practicing in Fair Lawn, NJ.
For those who have never been to therapy, I'd like to take some of the mystery out of it. Therapy is a conversation. Therapeutic conversations range from the events of the week to deeper explorations of self-esteem, relationships, impulses, memories, feelings, dreams, fears, hopes, and needs. In essence, we can talk about anything that is important to you. As a therapist, my job is to listen, notice, and share with you. Our work aims to clarify character traits and enable you to be a more active participant in your life. This process takes time and does not take hold with quick fixes.
Some people come to me in real distress struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship problems, or other issues that have resisted change for a long time. Others come not in crisis but motivated to improve their self-awareness, self-esteem, and quality of life.
I help people work through long-standing and difficult to change patterns. In my experience, shock, advice, and taking sides have never helped achieve lasting development. We will work together to improve your ability to recognize your existing patterns of impulses, feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. By improving your ability to observe yourself and recognize what is driving you, you can be freer to make healthier decisions instead of impulsively repeating the same self-defeating patterns.
I have no preconceived formulas or programs; no worksheets, homework, no five-point plans. I continue to find that conversation and observation are the most effective methods for helping people direct their treatment and live freer, healthier lives.
